In June 2007 St. Dominic's Jackson applied to the Mississippi Department of Health for a Certificate of Need to build a 71-bed acute care satellite campus in Madison County east of Interstate 55 at the Galleria Parkway and the planned Reunion Parkway interchange. Madison County is one of the fastest growing areas in the United States, yet it ranks the lowest in Mississippi in the number of acute care hospital beds per capita. Who We Are

The Dominican Sisters came to Jackson over 60 years ago to respond to a need for choice in hospital care in the community—we're hearing the same call today in Madison County.

In December 2008, St. Dominic's applied to the Mississippi State Department of Health for a Certificate of Need (CON) to expand our current hospital into Madison County by moving 71 of our existing licensed beds to a Madison hospital campus. The facility will improve access to hospital care with its location east of Interstate 55 at the Galleria Parkway and the planned Reunion Parkway interchange.

Madison County is one of the fastest growing counties in Mississippi, yet it ranks near the bottom in the state in the number of acute care hospital beds per thousand people. One hospital in Canton with 67 beds is NOT enough to meet the growing need and choice for hospital care. To gain permission to build this project, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The department is staffed with more paramedics per capita than any other Jackson area community and these paramedics are trainined as well or in most cases well above the minimum requirements. One element of this pre hospital care is time; time from the onset of the injury or illness until the patient is delivered to a hospital emergency room. With a hospital located in Madison, the time of transport can be significanly reduced resulting in an obvious improved outcome of the medical situation."
