About Us

In June 2007 St. Dominic's Jackson applied to the Mississippi Department of Health for a Certificate of Need to build a 71-bed acute care satellite campus in Madison County east of Interstate 55 at the Galleria Parkway and the planned Reunion Parkway interchange. Madison County is one of the fastest growing areas in the United States, yet it ranks the lowest in Mississippi in the number of acute care hospital beds per capita. To gain permission to build this project, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Who We Are

The Dominican Sisters came to Jackson over 60 years ago to respond to a need for choice in hospital care in the community—we're hearing the same call today in Madison County.

In December 2008, St. Dominic's applied to the Mississippi State Department of Health for a Certificate of Need (CON) to expand our current hospital into Madison County by moving 71 of our existing licensed beds to a Madison hospital campus. The facility will improve access to hospital care with its location east of Interstate 55 at the Galleria Parkway and the planned Reunion Parkway interchange.

Madison County is one of the fastest growing counties in Mississippi, yet it ranks near the bottom in the state in the number of acute care hospital beds per thousand people. One hospital in Canton with 67 beds is NOT enough to meet the growing need and choice for hospital care. To gain permission to build this project, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

If you support better medical care in Madison County, greater access to emergency health services and a stronger quality of life in the region, then we invite you to learn more about this project and GET INVOLVED NOW!

Mary Hawkins Butler

Mary Hawkins Butler, Mayor

"St. Dominic's has long been a friend to the City of Madison due to the medical care and employment it provides for many who live here. However, we support this new facility for another important reason: to improve the lives of our most valuable resource, our citizens. Madison has been named one of the best cities for family life; however, we are lacking a community hospital for our residents. St. Dominic's Madison campus will address the need for better primary care and emergency services for Madison residents and those in surrounding cities and communities. The cooperation between St. Dominic's and the City of Madison is a testimony to the future for regional development."

Donna Sims

Donna Sims, President - BankPlus

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our customers, employees and families to receive healthcare services and treatment at a state-of-the-art facility located close to home. Through my experience in banking, I have seen firsthand the vital role quality of life, which includes adequate healthcare, plays in economic development. I am excited to see Madison County receive its own St. Dominic's, an organization whose reputation for professional, compassionate care precedes its entry into Madison County."

Thomas Lariviere

Thomas Lariviere, Fire Chief

"The Madison Fire Department has a long history of striving to provide the best pre hospital advanced life support possible. The department is staffed with more paramedics per capita than any other Jackson area community and these paramedics are trainined as well or in most cases well above the minimum requirements. One element of this pre hospital care is time; time from the onset of the injury or illness until the patient is delivered to a hospital emergency room. With a hospital located in Madison, the time of transport can be significanly reduced resulting in an obvious improved outcome of the medical situation."
