For St. Dominic's to expand its current campus into Madison County, the filing of a CON application is required to gain approval from the Department of Health. St. Dominic's has filed such an application to move 71 of our existing licensed beds to expand our campus into Madison County, so our patients who live in Madison County can have quicker access and choice for hospital and emergency medical services.
Part of this review and approval process is an administrative hearing that may be requested by an affected party. Such a request has been made regarding St. Dominic's application by the Canton hospital. The hearing is currently scheduled for February 3 - 17, 2010.
The citizens of Madison County have a role to play in determining need for the new hospital campus in Madison County. The Department of Health considers the voice of citizens, civic leaders and elected officials in documenting a need for such a project.
We're asking citizens to speak up and make a difference in their community by:
- Going to the Get Involved section of our web site to sign a petition in support of the project.
- Citizens can also generate a petition in their community, schools and neighborhood.
- They can call local officials, the Department of Health and St. Dominic's.
- Concerned citizens need to tell their friends, neighbors, anyone in their community about their opportunity to support this effort.
We hear from citizens every day about the need and stories in support of St. Dominic's effort to expand into Madison County so we need them to voice their opinion, now!
