St. Dominic’s has long been committed to better healthcare in Madison County and the surrounding region. It’s one of the reasons St. Dominic’s is the preferred healthcare provider of Madison County residents. Since 1988, we have extended a healing ministry to the special needs of older adults with the creation of St. Catherine's Village - a retirement, assisted living and skilled nursing center, and a residential Alzheimer’s facility, Campbell Cove. Since 2005, we have provided quality primary care at our Family Practice Associates location in Ridgeland. The St. Dominic Care-A-Van mobile health screening unit is active in providing children and adults with free health screening at schools and community centers across Madison County. And one of our most far reaching community services is staffing 14 Madison County schools with nurses, at no cost to the schools.
Committed to Improving Your Healthcare
At St. Dominic's Madison campus will dramatically improve healthcare in Madison County and the surrounding region. Madison County is one of the most underserved counties in the state - projected at only one-half of one bed per 1,000 people by 2025. Yet Madison County is one of the fastest growing counties in Mississippi - projected to add approximately 39,000 more people in the next fifteen years.
Emergency medical services for the citizens are limited with only one hospital in Canton for a geographically large county such as Madison. St. Dominic's Madison campus will provide greater access to emergency services as well as enhanced access to physician care with a planned medical office building. Improved access to our wellness programs will also help more Madison County residents take an active role in improving their health and well being, through a range of programs aimed at preventing and reducing health risks.
Committed to Improving your Quality of Life
Access to healthcare has long been a key factor for judging a region's quality of life. As a planned residential community, Madison is fast becoming one of the best places to live in the South. Yet, without better access and choice for hospital and emergency medical care, Madison County's potential will fail to be realized. Improving convenience, access and overall health services to residents is essential to the future of Madison County, and was reiterated recently by a local economic development assessment that claimed better healthcare was the #1 civic need in Madison County.
Committed to Building a Stronger Community
The planned St. Dominic's Madison campus represents an investment of over $121 million in Madison County. Construction of the project alone will add up to 450 jobs in the region. Once fully staffed, the facility is expected to employ 350 full-time employees - not including physicians or those leasing space and working in the adjacent medical office building. The anticipated annual payroll for the hospital alone is approximately $8 million. What's more, improved access and choice to healthcare in Madison County will seal the region's reputation as the quality lifestyle destination for families and retiring Americans.
